Robbery = Theft + Violence

The moment a subject pushes, strikes, or threatens you or staff during a recovery attempt, the offence is no longer theft.

It is Robbery. Your priority is now Safety of Life — not property.

  1. Step 1: Disengage Immediately

    Create as much distance as possible. Do not attempt to block, grab, or continue the conversation. Back away.

  2. Step 2: Call 911

    This is no longer a theft call — it is a violent crime in progress. Clearly state: Robbery in progress. Give your location and the subject's direction of travel.

  3. Step 3: Secure the Scene

    Keep bystanders and staff away from the area. Do not allow others to engage the subject. Your role is now scene containment and witness.

  4. Step 4: Document Everything

    As soon as it is safe, record your description of the subject, the sequence of events, and any witnesses present. This is now a criminal investigation.
